JEFFERSONVILLE – Romeo Langford has received another
accolade for his phenomenal 2016-17 season.
On Wednesday, the New Albany junior was named to USA Today’s
2016-17 All-USA Indiana Boys’ Basketball Team.
Langford was a first-team selection along with Indianapolis
North Central senior and 2017 Indiana Mr. Basketball Kris Wilkes, LaPorte La
Lumiere senior Brian Bowen, Indianapolis Ben Davis junior Aaron Henry and Fort
Wayne Snider senior Malik Williams.
The second team consisted of two Fort Wayne North players in
sophomore Keion Brooks and senior Jaylen Butz, the Castle duo of senior Jack
Nunge and sophomore Alex Hemenway and Cloverdale senior Cooper Neese. Ben Davis
head coach Mark James earned Indiana Coach of the Year honors.
This past season, Langford scored 28.7 points per game and
grabbed 8.9 rebounds a contest to lead New Albany to a 25-4 record, a fourth
consecutive outright Hoosier Hills Conference championship and a fourth straight
Class 4A Seymour Sectional title. The 6-foot-5 swingman also averaged 3.4
assists and 2.1 blocked shots per clip. Langford became the Bulldogs’ all-time
leading scorer in 2016-17.
Langford was selected to the All-HHC first team, The
Associated Press All-State first team and the Indiana Basketball Coaches
Association Underclass Supreme 15 All-State squad. He made the Indiana Junior
All-Star team.
In addition, Langford
received a few national honors. He was a second-team selection to the MaxPreps
Junior All-American team and a fourth-team pick to the MaxPreps All-American
squad. He was named a Naismith All-American.
