SOFTBALL: Red Devils suffer 10-4 setback at Jennings County

NORTH VERNON – Jeffersonville’s losing streak extended to three games Tuesday in a 10-4 setback at Hoosier Hills Conference foe Jennings County 10-4. It was a make-up game after it got rained out on April 5.
The Red Devils (5-7) collected 11 hits, but they left 10 runners on base.
Four Jeff players smacked two hits apiece. Senior Kaylee Strong, junior Meghan Lay and sophomore Lizzy Coons each were 2-for-3. Coons had a double and a run scored, Lay got a triple and an RBI and Strong drove in one run. Red Devil junior Lindsey Nelson went 2-for-4. Also for Jeff, Nan Garcia launched a solo home run.
Red Devil senior Jennah Tincher was the losing pitcher. In 1 2/3 innings of work, Tincher allowed six runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk. Coons threw 4 1/3 innings, yielding four runs (three earned) on three hits. Coons walked three and struck out two.
Tesla Kopitzke collected a double and a homer for the Panthers (8-3). Teammate Amanda Bonesteel was the winning pitcher, improving her record to 3-1.
