SOFTBALL: Red Devils cruise past Providence in five 17-2

CLARKSVILLE – Jeffersonville snapped a two-game losing streak Monday by rolling past host Providence in five innings 17-2.
The Red Devils (4-4) had five multihit players and took advantage of seven Pioneer errors. Senior Kaylee Strong went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, while junior Lindsey Nelson was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Jeff sophomore Lizzy Coons wound up 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Red Devil junior Faith Denig was 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored, and teammate Meghan Lay went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two stolen bases.
Red Devil junior pitcher Mackenzie Brockwell got the win in her first appearance of the season. Brockwell pitched four innings, allowing one run (earned) on three hits. She struck out two and walked a pair of Pioneers.
Providence starter Hannah Wolford got the loss. Senior Mia Fougerousse scored both Pioneer runs.
Jeff will play at New Washington at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Providence will travel to South Central at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
