GIRLS’ HOOPS: Area trio selected to ICGSA All-State first team

JEFFERSONVILLE – Three area players have been named to the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association All-State first team for the 2016-17 season.
Two players from that trio helped Eastern win its first-ever Class 2A state championship in February in Taylor Drury and Rachel Stewart. Providence’s Claire Rauck joined both Musketeers on the first team.
Earning spots on the All-State second team were Charlestown’s Samantha Matthews and Providence’s Hannah Wolford.
Austin’s Kami Owens, Crawford County’s Addy Simpson, Scottsburg’s Paige Barrett and South Central’s Alexis Knear were All-State third-team selections.
Making the ICGSA Academic All-State squad were Borden’s Taylor Streander and Kathryn Gertin, Corydon Central’s Allyssa Edwards, Henryville’s Hannah Nunn, Salem’s Laken White and Scottsburg’s Emma Waskom. Corydon Central’s Megan Rowlett, Crawford County’s Carley Allen, Henryville’s Peyton Ottersbach and Salem’s Elizabeth Weaver made the Academic All-State honorable-mention list.
