NEW ALBANY – New Albany pounded out 15 hits Wednesday at Mt.
Tabor Field to defeat visiting Clarksville 14-7.
Ryan Robison was one of the leaders of the Bulldog offense,
going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Teammate Andrew Ricketts also went
3-for-4 with a double.
New Albany’s Christian Sifers was 2-for-3 with a triple, a
home run and four RBIs. His homer was a three-run shot in the bottom of the
third inning. The Bulldogs’ Chase Rudy went 2-for-4 with a double, a two-run
homer in the fourth and three RBIs.
Also for New Albany (7-6), Dylan Clark ended up 2-for-4 with
two RBIs.
Bulldog pitcher Steven Thom got his first win of the season.
He gave up three runs (all earned) on five hits. Thom struck out six and walked
two.
Webster Walls led the Clarksville bats, going 3-for-4. Teammates
Ethan Cummings and Matt Hauber each were 2-for-3. Cummings had three RBIs.
Generals pitcher Clayton Haus got the loss. In 3 1/3
innings, he allowed eight runs (four earned) on seven hits. Haus walked two and
struck out one.
New Albany will host Evansville Mater Dei at 7 p.m. Friday
at Mt. Tabor Field. Clarksville (4-9) will travel to Mid-Southern Conference
rival Brownstown Central at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
