SOFTBALL: Bulldogs rebound from Jeff loss with 11-5 win over Providence

NEW ALBANY – New Albany rebounded from Monday’s disappointing 7-6 loss in 10 innings at rival Jeffersonville with an 11-5 home victory over another rival in Providence on Tuesday at Prosser Field.
Mariah Grant paced the Bulldogs’ offense. She went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored.
New Albany freshman Madison Lawson was 2-for-4, scoring twice and collecting two RBIs. Teammate Marissa Jones went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.
Bulldog starter Morgan Jenks earned the complete-game victory, improving her record to 3-1. She allowed five runs (two earned) on five hits and no walks. Jenks struck out 12.
Starter Hannah Wolford got the loss for Providence (3-7) as she fanned 12 Bulldogs (8-7). She went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI.
