CHARLESTOWN – Jeffersonville reached the .500 mark on Friday
with a 15-0 victory in five innings at Charlestown.
Red Devil senior Cam Northern pitched a two-hit shutout in
earning his first win of the season. The future Purdue University football
player struck out six Pirates and walked none.
Senior Bennie Day led Jeff (3-3) on offense. He went 3-for-3
with a double, two runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases.
Red Devil junior and Indiana University commit Gabe Bierman
was 2-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Teammate Devyn Rivers
wound up 2-for-2 with a two-bagger and an RBI. Jeff sophomore Jack Ellis
smacked a home run.
Charlestown’s two hits were a single by sophomore Payton
Settles and a double by freshman Andrew Snider. The Red Devils scored 11 runs
in the top of the first inning off Pirate junior starter Jacob Doherty.
Jeff will host Hoosier Hills Conference rival Columbus East
at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Charlestown (4-6) will visit North Harrison at 5:30 p.m.
Monday.
