JEFFERSONVILLE – Jeffersonville snapped a three-game losing
streak Tuesday night at Don Poole Field as it rolled past visiting North
Harrison in five innings 16-1. The Red Devils collected 15 hits, five of them
for extra bases.
Jeff junior Ethan English was productive on the mound and at
the plate. English earned his first victory of the 2017 season by pitching a
six-hitter. He had eight strikeouts and three walks, and the one run he gave up
was earned.
English was a triple away from hitting for the cycle. He
went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBIs and a run scored.
Red Devil senior Cam Northern and Jeff sophomore Jack Ellis
joined English with three-hit games. Northern wound up 3-for-3 with a double,
three runs scored and an RBI. Ellis was 3-for-3 with five RBIs and three runs
scored. He drilled a three-run homer.
Jeff senior Bennie Day went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run
scored. Teammates Drew Taylor and Ian Francisco each drove in two runs.
Cougar senior Alex Eveslage went 2-for-2. North Harrison
sophomore Ben Davis was the losing pitcher.
Jeff (5-6) will host Louisville St. Xavier at 6 p.m.
Thursday. The Cougars will visit Salem at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
