INDIANAPOLIS – For the second consecutive season, New Albany
standout Romeo Langford has received the most votes for The Associated Press
All-State boys’ teams. The All-State squads were announced late last week.
Langford made the All-State first team for the second year
in a row. The 6-foot-5 junior swingman averaged 28.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.4
assists and 2.1 blocked shots per game in leading the Bulldogs to a 25-4
record. He also led New Albany to a fourth consecutive Hoosier Hills Conference
championship and a fourth straight Class 4A Seymour Sectional title.
During the 2016-17 season, Langford became New Albany’s
all-time leading scorer and was named a Naismith All-American.
Bulldog senior guard Isaac Hibbard earned a spot on the
All-State high honorable-mention list. Floyd Central’s Cobie Barnes and Luke
Gohmann both made the honorable-mention list.
Three area girls’ players were named to the AP All-State
high honorable-mention list in New Albany’s Chyna Anthony, North Harrison’s
Cali Nolot and Eastern’s Rachel Stewart.
Making the All-State honorable-mention list were Providence’s
Claire Rauck and Hannah Wolford, Charlestown’s Samantha Matthews, Christian
Academy’s Alli Stumler, Eastern’s Taylor Drury, Austin’s Kami Owens and North
Harrison’s Lilly Hatton.
