SOFTBALL: Jeff’s offense stays hot versus New Washington

NEW WASHINGTON – It has been a productive week on offense for the Jeffersonville Red Devils.
On Wednesday, Jeff improved its record to 5-4 with a convincing 22-2 victory at New Washington in five innings. This week, the Red Devils have outscored their two opponents 39-4. They won at Providence on Monday in five frames 17-2.
Sophomore Lizzy Coons was the leader of the Jeff bats. She went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored.
Teammate Lindsey Nelson and Nan Garcia each went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. One of Garcia’s hits was homer. Also for Jeff, senior Juliette Schuur went 2-for-6 and Meghan Lay was 2-for-2 with a homer and five RBIs.
Red Devil senior Jennah Tincher was the winning pitcher. She gave up two earned runs on four hits in a complete-game outing. Tincher struck out three and walked none, upping her record to 3-2.
Jeff will host Lanesville at 5:30 p.m. Friday. New Washington will travel to Madison for a 5 p.m. first pitch Monday.
