NEW ALBANY – New Albany senior Isaac Hibbard has given a
verbal commitment to play basketball next season at Hanover College.
The 6-foot guard announced his college choice last week on
his Twitter handle.
“It’s been a
long process but I’m Blessed to say that I have committed to play basketball at
Hanover College,” Hibbard tweeted last Thursday when he made his
announcement.
Hibbard
averaged 13 points per game last season to help the Bulldogs finish 25-4 and
capture both the Hoosier Hills Conference championship and the Class 4A Seymour
Sectional title.
Hibbard earned
a spot on the All-HHC first team and made the Indiana Basketball Coaches
Association Senior Large School All-State team. He was on the high honorable-mention
list on the 2016-17 Associated Press All-State squad.
Hibbard
finished his high school career ranked seventh on New Albany’s all-time scoring
list. He helped the Bulldogs win the 2016 Class 4A state championship.
Last season, Hanover
posted a 26-4 record and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division III
tournament. The Panthers won both the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference
regular-season and tournament titles.
At Hanover,
Hibbard will be reunited with former New Albany teammate Nick White, who is a
sophomore forward for the Panthers.
