BASEBALL: Bulldogs cannot stop Jasper rally in 6-4 loss

JASPER – Class 3A No. 3 Jasper rebounded from a 4-1 deficit to defeat visiting New Albany on Saturday at Ruxer Field 6-4.
The Bulldogs (4-6) scored two runs in the top of the third inning to take a 2-1 lead. They added a run in both the fourth and fifth to go up by three runs.
But the Wildcats (7-1) responded with four runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. They added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth.
Ryan Robison led New Albany at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double. Bulldog starter Logan Charbonneau got his first loss in the 2017 season. In six innings of work, he gave up six runs (two earned) on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks.
Evan Aders was Jasper’s top hitter with 2-for-3 game. He smacked a double and a home run and collected two RBIs.
Wildcat pitcher Reece Kleinhelter earned the victory. He surrendered four runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out four and walking one.
New Albany will visit Louisville Southern at 5 p.m. Monday.
