SOFTBALL: Red Devils fall behind early, lose to Silver Creek 9-5

JEFFERSONVILLE – Jeffersonville fell behind 6-0 after 1 ½ innings and could not recover Tuesday at the Ralph Scales Athletic Complex, losing to visiting Silver Creek 9-5.
Red Devil junior Faith Denig went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Fellow Jeff junior Lindsey Nelson also was 2-for-4. Nelson scored a run.
Red Devil senior pitcher Jennah Tincher suffered the loss in the circle. In 1 1/3 innings of work, Tincher allowed six runs (four earned) on six hits.
Jeff sophomore Lizzy Coons pitched two scoreless innings, giving up two hits. Red Devil junior pitcher Mackenzie Brockwell threw 3 2/3 innings as she surrendered three runs (one earned) on five hits.
The three Jeff pitchers did not get any help from the Jeff defense, which committed five errors. The Dragons made three miscues.
The Red Devils (7-9) will host a split doubleheader Saturday against both Bloomington high schools. They will face Bloomington North at 10 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. matchup with Bloomington South.
Silver Creek will host Mid-Southern Conference rival North Harrison at 5 p.m. Thursday.
