By KEVIN HARRIS
JEFFERSONVILLE – Jeffersonville finished second in the annual Jeffersonville High School Inferno meet last weekend at Blair Field, scoring 94 points. Evansville Harrison took first place with 168 points.
Red Devil senior Tony Cappola won the pole vault competition with a height of 14 feet, 6 inches. Cappola signed a letter of intent earlier this week to compete in track next season at Vincennes University.
Teammate Dayna Overton placed first in the shot put with a top throw of 49-1 ½. Jeff’s Victor Dailey was the winner in the high jump. The Red Devils’ 3,200-meter relay team placed second.
“Evansville Harrison was obviously the better team this weekend. But our young squad will continue to improve and hopefully win some meets along the way,” Jeff head coach Mark Felix said.
Floyd Central finished third with 80 points. Silver Creek was sixth with 52 points and Providence ended up seventh with 46 points.
The Red Devils will compete in the New Albany Relays on Thursday. The meet will start at 6 p.m.
