SOFTBALL: Bulldogs take care of Madison on Tuesday 6-2

NEW ALBANY – New Albany went over the .500 mark Tuesday at Prosser Field as it defeated Hoosier Hills Conference foe Madison 6-2.
The Bulldogs (3-2) bolted out to a 5-0 lead after the first two innings. They scored three times in the bottom of the first with the key hit being a two-out RBI single by Karlee Atkins.
New Albany plated two more runs in the second, with Marissa Jones collecting an RBI base hit.
Mariah Grant led the Bulldog offense with a 2-for-4 performance that included a triple. Jones and teammate Madison Lawson each scored twice.
New Albany starter Alyssa Kraemer got the win in the circle. She gave up two runs (both unearned) on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. Kraemer struck out two and walked two. Despite the victory, the Bulldogs committed four errors.
New Albany will visit Class 2A No. 5 Henryville at 5 p.m. Thursday.
