SOFTBALL: Schweitzer’s double ends Jeff’s four-game skid 1-0

JEFFERSONVILLE – Casey Schweitzer’s RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning snapped Jeffersonville’s four-game losing streak Friday in a 1-0 win over visiting Corydon Central.
The sophomore’s two-bagger came with two outs as she knocked in freshman Nan Garcia for the game-winning run.
Schweitzer’s game-winning knock secured the victory for Jeff starter Lizzy Coons. The sophomore pitcher threw a four-hit shutout, striking out three and walking one.
Schweitzer and Garcia each went 2-for-4. Panther junior Sydney Oskin was the losing pitcher.
The Red Devils (6-8) will host archrival New Albany (6-6) at approximately 7 p.m. Monday. The junior varsity game will begin at 5:30 p.m. Corydon (10-5) will visit Eastern at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
