NORTH VERNON – New Albany committed three errors in
suffering an 11-1, five-inning loss at Hoosier Hills Conference rival Jennings
County last Thursday.
Sophomore Mariah Grant was the Bulldogs’ only multihit player,
going 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored.
New Albany starter Alyssa Kraemer collected the loss. In one
inning of work, Kraemer allowed eight runs (three earned) on four hits. She
walked three and struck out one.
Bulldog reliever Morgan Jenks threw three frames, yielding
three runs (two earned) on four hits. She recorded three strikeouts and one
walk.
Jennings County sophomore Gabby Mahoney was the winning
pitcher. She pitched all five innings, giving up one run (earned) on six hits.
Mahoney fanned four and walked one.
At the plate, Mahoney was 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs
and a run scored. Teammates Sidney Gerkin and Amanda Bonesteel each had three
runs scored and two hits.
New Albany (8-8) will host Columbus East at 6 p.m. Monday.
The Panthers are 11-4.
