COLUMBUS – The New Albany Bulldogs
ended last week’s Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament on a very disappointing
note.
Columbus East senior Harry Crider smacked
a game-winning grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning to beat visiting
New Albany in the third-place game last Friday 4-0. Crider has signed a
national letter of intent to play football next season at Indiana University.
Bulldog reliever Ryan Robison gave
up Crider’s walk-off home run in getting the loss. Robison threw 2 1/3 innings,
yielding four runs (all earned) on four hits. He had one strikeout.
Starter Chase Rudy pitched seven
scoreless innings for New Albany (10-8). He allowed five hits and one walk
while striking out five.
Julian Greenwell went 3-for-5 for
the Olympians (13-6). Teammate Jonah Wichman was 2-for-4.
