SOFTBALL: Bulldogs fall to Columbus East 3-0

NEW ALBANY – New Albany suffered its third loss in the last four games Monday in a 3-0 setback to Hoosier Hills Conference foe Columbus East at Prosser Field.
The Bulldogs (8-9) had no answer for Olympian starter Jordan Johnston. The freshman pitched a five-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Senior Marissa Jones was New Albany’s lone multihit player, going 2-for-3 with a double. The Bulldogs’ three other hits - all singles - came from Mariah Grant, Terah Crosier and Bri Schoenfeld.
Schoenfeld was the losing pitcher. She threw a complete game, allowing three runs (all unearned) on three hits. She struck out one and walked one. The Bulldogs committed three errors.
Freshman Madyson Foster went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for East (11-7).
