RAMSEY – Lizzy Coons’ bat propelled visiting Jeffersonville
to a 5-2 victory at North Harrison last Thursday.
The sophomore went 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Coons
also earned the save, allowing one run (unearned) on two hits. She had two
strikeouts and two walks.
Jeff junior Faith Denig was 2-for-3 and teammate Lindsey
Nelson scored two runs.
Red Devil starter Mackenzie Brockwell got her second victory
of the 2017 season. In four innings, the junior gave up one run (earned) on
three hits with a strikeout and a walk.
Leading 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning, Jeff (12-12)
gave itself a cushion against the Lady Cats (11-10). The Red Devils scored
three runs in the frame to go up 5-1.
North Harrison will face Silver Creek in the first semifinal
of the Class 3A Scottsburg Sectional at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Note: The Red Devils’
home game versus Louisville Male last Friday got called off in the top of the
fifth inning because of multiple lightning strikes in the area. Jeff led 7-1 at
the time. It was the Red Devils’ regular-season finale.
