BASEBALL: Red Devils thump Madison on Senior Night 16-0

JEFFERSONVILLE – Last Tuesday at Don Poole Field, Jeffersonville honored its seniors on Senior Night with a 16-0 blowout victory over Madison in five innings.

It was another solid performance on the mound and at the plate by the Red Devils’ Ethan English.

The Jeff junior threw a four-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking two. In the batter’s box, English went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, four RBIs and a run scored.

Four Red Devil seniors each collected two hits. Nick Grider was 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Bennie Day ended up 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a pair of RBIs. Jacob Cochrum went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Cam Northern was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI.

Also for Jeff (13-8), Jack Ellis smacked a homer and Drew Taylor, Trey Bottorff and senior Mike Minton each came home twice.

Gunner Jones paced the Cubs (8-13) with a 2-for-2 effort.
