SOFTBALL: Madison blanks New Albany in HHC seventh-place game 8-0

MADISON – New Albany ended up eighth in the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament last Friday, falling to host Madison in the seventh-place game 8-0.
Cub starter Alexis Wolf pitched a four-hit shutout, striking out nine Bulldogs (9-14). Mariah Grant led the New Albany bats, going 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Both of Grant’s hits were singles. Teammates Marissa Jones and Riley Case each collected a single.
Along with her strong pitching performance, Wolf went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. All her RBIs came on a fourth-inning grand slam.
The Bulldogs will host Corydon Central at 5 p.m. Thursday.
