JEFFERSONVILLE – Jeffersonville extended its winning streak
to five games last Wednesday at Don Poole Field with a 5-1 home victory over
Silver Creek.
Red Devil starter Cam Northern got the victory to improve
his record to 4-1. The senior pitched 4 1/3 innings, surrendering one earned
run on three hits. Northern struck out seven and walked one.
Fellow Jeff senior Mike Minton threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings
of relief. He allowed two hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
The Red Devils’ Bennie Day went
2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Teammate Ethan English launched a
two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to put Jeff (14-8) up 2-0.
Starter Justin Brown got the loss
for the Dragons (18-8). He yielded three runs (all earned) on four hits in two
innings.
Mid-Southern Conference champion
Silver Creek will host Charlestown in the first round of the Class 3A Silver
Creek Sectional at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
