BEDFORD – Wednesday’s first-round games of the Class 4A
Bedford North Lawrence Sectional have been postponed because of rain.
Those two contests have been rescheduled for Thursday at
Stars Field. Rivals Jeffersonville (15-8) and New Albany (16-9) will meet in
the sectional opener at 6 p.m. The second game will take place at about 8 p.m.
between Floyd Central (14-8) and Seymour (15-8).
The winners of Thursday’s games will meet in the first
semifinal at 1 p.m. Saturday. Saturday’s second semifinal will be at
approximately 4 p.m. as Class 4A No. 6 Bedford North Lawrence (20-4) faces
Jennings County (9-11). The championship is slated for 2 p.m. Monday.
Jeff and New Albany have faced each other twice this season.
The Bulldogs won 3-1 at Jeff on April 19. The Red Devils returned the favor on
May 10 at New Albany with a 12-5 victory in the Hoosier Hills Conference
Tournament semifinal. Jeff proceeded to defeat BNL in the HHC Tournament title
game on May 12 at Stars Field 3-2 in 13 innings.
Thursday’s sectional opener will be a rematch of last year’s
Class 4A Floyd Central Sectional championship game. New Albany defeated Jeff in
that game 1-0.
