NORTH VERNON – Host Jennings County redeemed itself against
Jefffersonville after losing to the Red Devils last Monday at Don Poole Field 10-5.
The Panthers needed just three hits in defeating the visiting Red Devils last
Wednesday 3-2.
With the score tied at one in the bottom of the fourth
inning, Jennings County (7-8) plated two runs to go up 3-1. Jeff (9-8) scored a
run in the top of the seventh, but could not get any closer.
Junior Bailey Falkenstein led the Red Devils, going 3-for-4
with an RBI and a stolen base. Teammate Mike Minton smacked a home run and Jeff’s
Bennie Day had two stolen bases.
Red Devil starter Ethan English got the loss. In six innings
of work, English surrendered three runs (all earned) on three hits. He struck out
five and walked three.
Jeff will travel to Floyd Central for the first round of the
Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament at 6 p.m. Monday. The two archrivals met on
April 4 at Highlander Field, with Floyd Central winning 5-1.
