JEFFERSONVILLE – Jeffersonville concluded its regular season
last Saturday at Don Poole Field with a 9-5 victory over Bloomington South.
The game was originally scheduled to be a part of a split
doubleheader for the Red Devils (15-8) in Bloomington between both Bloomington
South and Bloomington North. But because of rain, Jeff and South decided to move
their game to Poole Field, with the Panthers as the home team on the scoreboard.
The Red Devils’ contest with Bloomington North was canceled.
Sophomore Drew Taylor led Jeff at the plate, going 3-for-4
with two doubles and three runs scored. Teammate Hunter Schmitz was 3-for-4
with a run scored and an RBI.
Red Devil starter Gabe Bierman went 2-for-3 with two runs
scored, while Jeff sophomore Jack Ellis was 2-for-4 with a home run, five RBIs
and a run scored. Teammate Jacob Cochrum ended up 2-for-4 with a double and a
run scored.
Bierman got the win on the mound. In three innings, the
junior yielded three runs (all earned) on six hits with three strikeouts and no
walks.
Cochrum relieved Bierman in the fourth inning and pitched
three scoreless frames. Cochrum gave up two hits and no walks while striking
out two.
