SOFTBALL: Jeff bounces back to beat Scottsburg 5-1

SCOTTSBURG – Jeffersonville rebounded from a 6-4 loss to Seymour in the third-place game of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament with a 5-1 victory last Saturday at Scottsburg.
Four Red Devils (9-12) collected two hits apiece. Sophomore Cassidy Bott went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while junior Meghan Lay was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Junior Lindsey Nelson ended up 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Senior Juliette Schuur was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Jeff pitcher Jennah Tincher got the victory in relief. The senior pitched five scoreless innings, yielding two hits. She struck out three and walked none. Red Devil starter Mackenzie Brockwell allowed one run (earned) on three hits, walking one and striking out one.
Freshman Riley Pool paced Scottsburg’s offense with two hits.
