New Albany downs Highlanders again 81-57
By KEVIN HARRIS
NEW ALBANY – New Albany retained ownership of Floyd Central’s
number Saturday night at The Doghouse in a renewal of the Floyd County rivalry.
The Bulldogs defeated the Highlanders for the seventh
consecutive time 81-57. Floyd’s last victory over rival New Albany was in the
2009-10 regular season 93-47.
The Dogs scored their second-highest point total of the
2016-17 campaign Saturday. Juniors Julyen Condra and Savanna Pinkston each led
New Albany with 17 points apiece. Six-foot-one senior Chyna Anthony added 16
points and Bulldog senior guard Earlean Davis had 10. New Albany senior guard
Marissa Jones did a great job distributing the ball to her teammates by
recording a career-high 15 assists.
The Bulldogs (11-5, 2-1 Hoosier Hills Conference) snagged
control of the game right from the outset. They were up 27-12 after one quarter
and proceeded to build a 40-24 halftime lead.
Lindsey Dorsch topped the Highlander scoring column with a
game-high 18 points. Teammate Grace Hale scored 12.
New Albany will travel to Madison (4-12, 0-5) at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday. Floyd Central (11-7, 1-4) will host Louisville Central (6-5) at 7:30
