SCOTTSBURG – In front of a jam-packed crowd at historic
Meyer Gymnasium on Saturday night, Class 4A No. 2 New Albany extended its
winning streak to eight games with a convincing 97-40 win over host Scottsburg.
Junior guard Romeo Langford posted another 30-plus-point
effort. Langford scored 35 points with 17 coming in the first quarter. He hit
4-of-5 from 3-point range in the opening stanza.
Senior guard Isaac Hibbard continued his solid play with 21
points. Also for the Bulldogs (11-2), sophomore Derrick Stevenson and junior
Savion Southers each scored nine and junior Sean East tallied eight.
New Albany exploded right of the
gate. The Dogs pulled out to a 31-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. In
the second, New Albany outscored the Warriors (3-11) 18-7 to lead 49-17 at
halftime.
Mitchell Meagher was Scottsburg’s
leading scorer with 22 points. The Bulldogs will host Silver Creek at 7:30 p.m.
next Friday.
