NEW ALBANY – Class 4A No. 2 New Albany posted a season-high
in scoring Friday at The Doghouse, as it rolled past Hoosier Hills Conference
foe Madison 103-50.
Romeo Langford paced the Bulldogs (10-2, 4-0 HHC) with a
game-high 43 points, shooting 18-of-23 from the floor and 5-of-9 from 3-point
range. The junior star was three points off his own single-game school scoring
record of 46, which he set during last season’s Class 4A Richmond Semistate
victory (82-64) over Southport. Langford scored 31 of his 43 points in the
first half.
Langford got plenty of offensive support from his two teammates
– guards Isaac Hibbard and Sean East. Hibbard scored 25 points with 20 coming
in the opening half. East ended up with 15 for the game. Hibbard and East each
connected on three 3-pointers and distributed a team-high four assists.
New Albany junior forward Blake Murphy had a solid
performance with 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds. The Bulldogs shot
42-for-55 from the field (76.4 percent) and 14-of-23 from 3-point range (60.9
percent).
Senior forward Daniel Anderson led the Cubs (5-7, 0-4) with
a career-high 29 points.
