JEFFERSONVILLE – On Friday night at Johnson Arena,
Jeffersonville suffered its second home loss in its series with archrival Floyd
Central since 1989 as the Highlanders won 55-49.
The Red Devils (8-5, 2-2 Hoosier Hills Conference) gained
control of the game early, pulling out to a 13-2 lead around the 4-minute mark
of the first quarter.
But after that, Jeff’s offense went on a major dry spell. The
Highlanders (8-3, 1-1) outscored the Devils 38-19 to lead 40-32 at the end of
the third quarter. Floyd won the middle two quarters 28-15. Jeff outscored the
Highlanders 17-15 in the fourth.
Two Red Devil juniors scored in double figures.
Six-foot-three guard Bailey Falkenstein wound up with a game-high 18 points,
and 6-6 forward Gerrin Moore scored 12.
Sophomore forward Cobie Barnes paced the Highlanders with 13
points and eight rebounds. Teammate Luke Gohmann registered 11 points and six
boards and Floyd senior Tyler Kimm ended up with nine points.
