NEW ALBANY – Chyna Anthony put together another stellar
performance Wednesday night at The Doghouse to keep New Albany’s Hoosier Hills
Conference championship hopes alive.
The senior center recorded a double-double with 26 points
and 10 rebounds, leading the Bulldogs to a 69-48 victory over conference foe
Columbus East.
For New Albany (14-5, 4-1 HHC) to win a share of the HHC
title, it must win its final two conference games. The Bulldogs will travel to
archrival Jeffersonville (13-7, 6-0), which clinched a piece of the HHC crown
Tuesday night at Seymour in a 65-61 overtime win, on Friday night. New Albany then
will visit Seymour (14-6, 3-2) next Thursday. The Bulldogs have not won at
least a share of the HHC championship since 2005.
New Albany sophomore Alayasia Douglas scored 16 points.
Bulldog senior Marissa Jones had another double-figure assist total with 12 to
go along with nine points. Senior guard Earlean Davis added eight points.
Juniors Britney Ballard and Kristen Lyons each led the
Olympians (11-9, 1-4) with nine points.
New Albany’s matchup with Jeff will tip off Friday at about
7:30 p.m. The Red Devils lead the all-time series 42-34.
