FINAL HORN: No. 2 Bulldogs roll past Reitz 79-48

EVANSVILLE – Class 4A No. 2 New Albany extended its winning streak to 10 games Saturday night at Reitz Gym, as it thumped Evansville Reitz 79-48.
Junior star Romeo Langford led the Bulldogs (13-2) with a game-high 25 points, shooting 10-of-18 from the field and 5-of-10 from 3-point range. The 6-foot-5 swingman also had a game-high 10 rebounds and dished out five assists.
Four other New Albany players scored in double figures. Derrick Stevenson wound up with 12 points and Sean East, Isaac Hibbard and Julien Hunter each tallied 10. Bulldog junior guard Savion Southers came off the bench to score eight. Stevenson and Hunter each grabbed seven boards.
New Albany turned the contest into a blowout in the second quarter, outscoring the Panthers 16-6 to take a 37-16 halftime lead. Reitz (8-6) did not make a field goal until about 1:30 left in the first half.
Senior center Jyrus Freels paced the Panthers with 14 points. New Albany will return to Evansville at 8 p.m. EDT next Friday when it faces Evansville North (3-12).
