ATLANTA – New Albany junior Romeo Langford was named to the
Naismith High School Boys’ All-American Team on Wednesday by the Atlanta Tipoff
Club.
The 6-foot-5 swingman was a third-team selection. Langford
was one of four underclassmen on the team, which included high school players
across the United States.
Langford is averaging 29 points and 8.9 rebounds per game
this season for the defending Class 4A state champion Bulldogs. He is shooting
52 percent from the field and 64 percent from 3-point range.
Langford became New Albany’s all-time leading scorer this
season. The five-star recruit surpassed the 2,000-point mark in his high school
career last Saturday in the Bulldogs’ 54-38 victory over archrival Floyd
Central in the Class 4A Seymour Sectional championship game.
Langford has received scholarship offers from several NCAA
Division I programs. Those schools include Indiana, Purdue, Louisville,
Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke and Kansas.
Langford will lead Class 4A New Albany (24-3) into the Class
4A Seymour Regional on Saturday. The Bulldogs will face Center Grove (17-7) in
the first semifinal at 10 a.m.
