SALEM – Seniors Carson Lambring and Cody Waskom combined to
score 50 points to lead Class 3A No. 3 Brownstown Central to a 78-58 victory
over No. 10 Salem Monday night in the Class 3A Salem Sectional final. It was
the Braves’ first sectional title since 2013.
Brownstown (24-2) will face No. 5 Evansville Bosse (18-7) in
the Washington Regional semifinals at about 11:30 a.m. The Bulldogs are the
defending regional champions and finished as last year’s Class 3A state
runners-up.
Lambring scored a game-high 26 points, while Waskom pitched
in 24. Waskom also grabbed seven rebounds and distributed five assists.
Two other Braves scored in double figures. Ty Maxie had 11
points and Gavin Bane tallied 10.
Senior Seth Hobson led the Lions (22-3) with 18 points. Also
for Salem, Hunter Weedin had 13 points and six rebounds and Derek Cornett ended
up with 11 points.
