WRESTLING: Eight NA wrestlers, seven from Jeff to compete at semistate

JEFFERSONVILLE – Eight New Albany wrestlers and seven Jeffersonville grapplers will compete in the Evansville Reitz Semistate on Saturday at the Ford Center in Evansville, starting at 10 a.m. EDT.
Hoosier Hills Conference rival Floyd Central will have eight wrestlers participate in semistate. The Highlanders won this season’s Jeffersonville Sectional and finished second to first-place Columbus East in last Saturday’s Jeff Regional. Eastern, New Washington and Salem will each have one team member competing in Saturday’s semistate.
The top four wrestlers in each weight class will qualify for the IHSAA State Finals, which will take place Feb. 17-18 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
A list of semistate qualifiers from Clark, Floyd and Washington counties are listed below with weight classes and records. Regional champions also are recognized. These wrestlers finished in the top four of their respective weight class at last Saturday’s Jeff Regional:
JEFF: Josh Cooper (152, 36-6, regional champion); Josiah Freeman (160, 29-20); Kameron Fuller (170, 45-3, regional champion); Nathan Long (285, 40-9); Josh McCorkle (220, 26-23); Noah Morrison (132, 33-17); Luke Smith (195, 40-9).
NEW ALBANY: Deion Cooper (195, 26-13); Trenton Cunningham (120, 22-3); Tristen Dowell (132, 18-8); Aaron Gohl (126, 32-8); Dayton Hunter (106, 13-8); Chad McClanahan (220, 20-5); Aaron Mosley (170, 39-4); Jaden Sonner (182, 41-0, regional champion).
EASTERN: Dalton Pinaire (220, 27-10).
FLOYD CENTRAL: Josh Foster (152, 27-9); Karl Hauser (182, 28-9); Jonathan Kervin (126, 24-10); Bradley Philpot (195, 33-2, regional champion); Tristan Sellmer (138, 34-2, regional champion); Ty Sorg (285, 33-3, regional champion); Chris Spiller (170, 22-11); Devon Stikes (160, 30-7).
NEW WASHINGTON: Noah Franklin (132, 38-2).
SALEM: Aaron Hollen (220, 31-12).
