JEFFERSONVILLE – Jeffersonville improved its winning streak
to a season-high four games Saturday night at Johnson Arena, cruising past
Hoosier Hills Conference rival Jennings County 76-59.
Red Devil junior forward Bailey Falkenstein scored a
game-high 20 points, shooting 7-of-10 from the floor and a perfect 6-of-6 from
the free-throw line.
Jeff sophomore guard Joe LaGrange chipped in 16 points.
LaGrange converted six of his eight field-goal attempts, including 4-of-6 from
3-point range. Red Devil freshman forward Tre Coleman ended up with eight
points and a game-high eight rebounds.
Jeff (12-8, 3-4 HHC) turned the game into a rout in the
middle two quarters. During that stretch, the Red Devils outscored the Panthers
48-21 and shot 20-of-27 from the floor.
Senior forward Tyler Vogel paced Jennings County (13-7, 3-4)
with 14 points. Teammate Travis Wilson had 10 points and Panther senior forward
Bret Sawyer matched Coleman for game-high rebounding honors with eight.
Jeff will host Corydon Central (7-12) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Jennings
County will entertain Batesville (11-8) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Prior to Saturday’s game, Jeff assistant coach and former
Red Devil standout Joe Estes was honored for being named to the 2017 Indiana
Basketball Hall of Fame Men’s Silver Anniversary team. Jeff High also honored
two former Red Devils who have been selected to previous Silver Anniversary
squads in Phil Caldwell and PK Falkenstein.
