FOOTBALL: Jeff to face Columbus North in 6A sectional; Bulldogs to face rival Floyd

By KEVIN HARRIS
INDIANAPOLIS – Last Sunday’s IHSAA sectional draw produced some interesting challenges for Jeffersonville, New Albany, Providence and other Southern Indiana teams when sectional play begins Friday, Oct. 20.
The Red Devils will face another tough draw in Class 6A Sectional 8. The Bulldogs will host a familiar foe in Class 5A Sectional 15, while the Pioneers will start Class 2A Sectional 39 with another long road trip.

CLASS 6A SECTIONAL 8
Jeff (2-6) will travel to Columbus North (7-1) in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27. The Red Devils and Bull Dogs have met twice in Sectional 8 since the IHSAA went to six classes in 2013. They have split those two matchups. Jeff defeated North in the 2013 semifinals at Blair Field 30-22. The Bull Dogs avenged that loss the next year in the semis at Jeff 30-20.
The other semifinal on the 27th will pit host Franklin Central (7-1) against Class 6A No. 10 and defending state runner-up Center Grove (4-4).
Franklin Central is in first place in Conference Indiana with a 6-0 league record. The Flashes defeated conference rival Columbus North 28-20 on Sept. 8. Center Grove has won all four Class 6A Sectional 8 titles.
