NEW ALBANY – Host New Albany won all three of its matches
in the River City Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 28 at The Doghouse.
NEW ALBANY 2, EVANSVILLE CENTRAL 0
The Bulldogs (7-0) began the tournament with a 25-17,
25-22 victory over Evansville Central. Senior middle blocker Kamori Knight led
the New Albany offense with nine kills, followed by teammate Alexis Caldwell
with eight.
Bulldog setters Cheyenne Palmer and Amelia Hicks
distributed 11 and 10 assists, respectively. Caldwell and Palmer each had three
service aces.
NEW ALBANY 2, LANESVILLE 1
New Albany needed three sets to knock off Lanesville in
the Bulldogs’ second match of the day, 25-11, 22-25, 15-6.
Caldwell paced New Albany with 13 kills, eight digs and four
aces. Palmer dished out 20 assists, while junior Ashlyn Clifton was the Dogs’
defensive leader with 10 digs. Knight made eight blocks.
NEW ALBANY 2, AUSTIN 0
New Albany breezed through its final match of the tourney
with a 25-8, 25-16 win over Austin.
Senior Carter Singleton was the Bulldogs’ kills leader
with six. Palmer and New Albany freshman Reese Tiesing each served a team-high
four aces.
The Bulldogs will host archrival Providence on Tuesday,
Aug. 31.
